Laps for Leukaemia 48-hour Charity Walk – HUGE SUCCESS!!
Well that’s a wrap!! We are so proud of the Sharkies staff and the determination they showed this weekend (28th – 30th March) walking for 48-hours straight in LAPS FOR LEUKAEMIA 48-CHARITY WALK.
We are absolutely blown away by the support we received from the community and overwhelmed by the amount of donations we received. Our final tally of funds raised was $16,581 and we cannot thank the community enough for their support not only of the Leukaemia Foundation but of the love shown for our staff with personal Sponsorships. The total lap count was 835 (over 350km) but the consolidated team effort was so much more than this with 1000’s of laps walked, 100’s of 1000’s of steps, accumulated untold numbers of blisters and tired sore muscles, and all while walking day and night through torrential rain with HUGE smiles and the greatest of positive attitudes. The Sharkies family is one absolutely awesome team!!
HUGE thank you to ALL of our sponsors at Pinnacle Project Solutions, Redlands RL Old Boys, CUB, Springwood Lions, Meat Addiction, City Property Services, BayFM and Redland City Council. A special shout out also to Naturally Cooked Sunscreen for helping us get through Day 3 of the walk, Totally WorkWear for doing such an awesome job with our shirts and caps, Cleveland Police, Rebecca Young MP, Councillor Lance Hewlett, our incredible Sharks Committee, our Sharks Softball Club for turning up with so much support yesterday, and most importantly our team of Staff at the Sharks and our incredible GM Rhys who really lead by example. And finally to David Hancock from the Leukaemia Foundation, for being a part of our event and walking alongside us this weekend. There was nothing more special than handing over our cheque for $16,581 to David on behalf of the Leukaemia Foundation to help them continue their incredible support of those impacted by blood cancer and hope that one day they reach their goal of eliminating all blood cancer deaths by 2035.
